Pop the jug on (or kettle if you're fancy) and while it boils, complete a teeny task.
1. Water a droopy plant
2. Wipe down a dank shelf in the fridge
3. Open a window and take 5 deep breaths through it
4. Delete three apps on your phone you can't remember ever using
5. Unsubscribe from 3 influencers you hate follow
6. Send your bestie a text message
7. Snuggle with your partner/friend/kid/fur buddy
8. Touch your toes 5 times
9. Play George Michael’s ‘Faith’ and have a kitchen boogie
You can also stare into the abyss and take a little brain break. That’s valid too.
Reading
Butter by Asako Yuzuki. It's okay so far. I like it but I'm not finding myself rushing back to read it. I adore the cover though. Possibly one of the best of 2025. My main issue is two of the main characters are called Rika and Reiko and I keep getting them mixed up. It’s like having two main characters called Kristy and Kirsty.
Watching
The new season of Ginny & Georgia which is always fun mainly because I love the Degrassi cast popping up all over the place. We also watched Echo Valley and it was very fine, and I mean it was actually better than fine? Like not amazing but it was really good. Julianne Moore is choosing to look old rather than weird, and as such is stunning. Dohmnall Gleeson is fab in this. Horrible but fab. Ben's brother came to visit and I generally play a video game when he's here. I've been chipping away at Zelda Echoes of Wisdom. I'm pretty close to the final boss which is making me very nervous. It's a lovely little game for people who don't really play games. I need all games I play to be very cute with lots of lovely things to collect like gems or coins.
Listening
Fungus Amongus from Radiolab. Fascinating episode about a rare fungus that started killing people a few years ago and scientists figured out it was an ancient fungus that was lying dormant until collective body temperatures rose high enough to reactivate it. Terrifying.
Wearing
Last winter was rather mild so I'm scrambling most days to get dressed appropriately because it is really fudging cold. I've got the top part sorted with several wool jumpers I knitted during Covid but I struggle with pants. Nothing is warm enough without looking like termals or trakkies. I've bought a few pairs of pants to try this week so I’ll keep you posted. I'm still struggling with boots. My plantar fasciitis is so much better but still gets a bit angry when I dare to wear anything other than Hokas.
Buying
Not much but if I was wanting to spend $ here’s where I’d spend it. Spell dress, these honey-hued Le Specs, this beautiful necklace from Najo, and this red onyx one too, this alpaca blend cardigan from Elka collective, this very cool tee from Bohemian Traders, these very exxy Lee Mathews pants and these Camper boots.
Doing
Life is lovely and very full ATM. Visitors, play dates. Work is great, I love my actual job and the people I work with are ace (and even though I’m remote I still have a work husband and wife), there’s just a little bit of unrest company wide which I’m hoping will settle down soon. Fingers crossed! I got struck down with a fairly shocking cold yesterday but I’m on the mend today.
Hope you had a fabulous week.
Catch ya next week.
Carly
I will fill the jug but will also ask the Bloke to put the kettle on. Bilingual beverage breaks.
They film Ginny & Georgia in my ‘hood!
