Voice recording at the top if you like to listen!
Last week, I pulled my favourite pair of pants out of the wash and found a hole in the crotch. I have been blessed with these pants for less than 2 months so to say I’m displeased is very accurate. My thunder thighs are not to blame FYI, it’s a shitty construction issue.
I wrote the brand an email. Bought them in January, unacceptable, please replace, blah, blah, blah.
No response.
Followed up a week later. Hey I emailed you about this and didn’t hear back.
No response.
Went through the chat on their website. Hey I emailed, didn’t get a response, getting a bit cranky about it TBH.
Turns out I emailed the wrong address. Oops. In my defense, it really should have bounced if it was incorrect but still. Def my fault.
I apologized to the chatbot (I’m always nice to them because you never know) and I’m awaiting further action.
Just a little reminder this week that sometimes the thing is your fault. Don’t forget to apologise, even it’s a chatbot.
*UPDATE - the brand are replacing the pants but with a different pattern because they’re sold of the ones I already have. Well done team. Mr Zimi BTW.
Reading
Jodi Picoult Plain Truth. I’ll be honest, I didn’t love it. It pops up a lot in page-turner book lover convos (it’s 25 years old) but I found it a bit of a slog. The ‘twist’ was pretty obvious the entire time and I didn’t find the characters very engaging. TBH I’d give this one a miss if I were you, I only finished it because I needed to know the ending and it was pretty much exactly what I was expecting. Blah stars out of blah.
Listening
Listening to Extrasensory, an Apple podcast about reincarnation. It was a little OTT but I liked the history and cultural elements of the exploration of past lives. Easy and interesting listen. Also this episode of Criminal called Ava and the Pickpocket was delightful. About the art of honest pickpockets, like performance thieves. Charming.
Watching
24 Hours in Police Custody. It’s set in Luton police station in Britain and it shows cam footage of people being arrested and the 24 hours the police have to find enough evidence to officially charge them. It sounds so trashy. Seriously, I just read that I was like, jesus everyone is going to think I’m such a garbage human, but it’s actually very well done and not sensationalist at all. Every episode is like a banger of a Netflix doco. I’m not kidding, they’re all so good. It’s available on Apple TV. Also I have to re-recommend it - The Pit. It’s the most enthusiastic I’ve been about a medical show in a long time. It’s really filling the hole the good seasons of Grey’s have left in my life.
Wearing
A few things I wore this week. Outfit 1 - Witchery linen cropped top (these are half price ATM - I stocked up!), Boden girlfriend dungarees, Frankie 4 sneakers. Outfit 2 - Daughter’s of India top (secondhand), Seed pants, Teva sandals. Outfit 3 - Lucy & Yak overalls and Converse platform sneaks. The dregs of summer are really sticking around so there’s not a huge amount of variety. Looking forward to jumper and boots season. Maybe even a warm scarf? Stop it Carly.
Eating
We had a few sets of visitors this week, and we made RecipeTinEats pasta from Dinner - great veg option if you take out the anchovies. Tomorrow we’re doing oven-fired pizza for the kids, then my mate (who I’ve been friends with since I was 9 years old - how lucky am I?) and I are going out for dinner and leaving the kids to watch a movie with Ben. We’re just entering a slightly easier phase of parenting with our eldest, where we don’t have to be quite as strict with bedtimes, because she won’t entirely fall off a cliff if she’s a little bit tired. It’s so nice. Big kids rock. My other kid is a toddler, and I can confirm they do not rock. So cute, so funny, absolutely scrumptious but not chill. At all.
Doing
Cleaning. Nothing like having a few sets of visitors come over to really light a fire under our arses. We went hard. We’ve just been wandering around and touching all the surfaces, darling, surfaces.
That’s it for this week - thank you so much for reading, commenting, sticking around, subscribing, all that jazz. You are really very marvelous.
Chat next week!
Carly
Ahh, apologies. Last week I called my car dealer because the car had stopped charging my iPhone and I had tried all the things with no success. Lady was lovely and went through process of booking it to be fixed and then asked me if I’d tried an Apple cord. I said no, but the two cords I’d tried had been good quality and had worked successfully for months. She wouldn’t book till I tried an Apple and I. Was. Cross.
I went home, grabbed an Apple cord and plugged it in and the blasted thing worked. I called the service centre back the next day and apologised to the lady who answered and asked her to share it with the team as I didn’t know who I’d spoken to. *sigh*
Why do I love Wednesdays? Cos an installation of Very Excellent Habits lands in my inbox (btw, this is not me expecting this forever or even another year cos, you know, life!).
I checked my email late during lunch break today and had to bloody wait til I got home to read it! Just wanted to say thank you for sharing these tidbits with us <3
