One sec
I'm at max capace
It’s wild out here. Work is off chops ATM (it’s good just a lot going on), we’ve had visitors, we’re away next weekend. I’ve very much overbooked everyone this month, classic move. Lunchboxes are extra basic ATM but I don't hear the kids complaining.
Weird tip of the week: you can air fry freezer dumplings and they’re delicious. Tell me you’ve been too busy to cook decent meals without telling me you’ve been too busy to cook decent meals.
On with the show.
Reading
The God of the Woods for bookclub. It was average. Although it was better than I expected because with that title, I was preparing for an epic flowery tome of descriptions of trees which is not my bag at all. Thankfully it began with a missing child at a school camp in the 70s but it still wasn’t that great. The Heir Apparent was also average, kind of fun but not fun enough for how basic it was. I have so much to say about Yesteryear but I’m not allowed to talk about it yet. At least three of my bookclub buddies read this newsletter and I got in trouble for writing about bookclub books before our meet ups.
Listening
Everything is clips now on clipping and how it’s the new way to be discovered. I want to exit this timeline please. This is so gross. I’ve disengaged from a lot of the news and I usually balk when people say that but come on. It’s the second Trump term, I’m so done but Today, Explained is a great podcast that generally covers the most important stuff in a non-sensationalist way. It’s topical but not terribly pessimistic.
Watching
We watched a truly bizarre film called Frank, which was oddly enjoyable. Also started Shrinking and it’s delightful. I want a Liz rock. I found a fashion doco called Unzipped I haven’t seen and it’s everything you want in a 90s fashion doco. Didn’t know much about Isaac Mizrahi but he was clearly big enough to pull Linda, Naomi, Kate, Helena and Cindy for his catwalk show. Mind blowing. Warning you’ll feel very sad about the end of the mobile phone free era - everyone is so present all the time.
Wearing
I’m in such a funk clothing wise at the moment, I’m going to do a wardrobe clean-out and figure out what's missing from my wardrobe.
Here are few things I have my eye on.
Dress from Kloke, jumper from Kow Tow, boots from Radical Yes, ring from Vivienne Westwood, top and vest from Bul and shoes from Camper.
Eating
We went to Provenance a few weeks ago for a belated 20th anniversary celebration. It was magnificent, Japanese degustation with about 25 teeny tiny dishes that we ate over a 2 hour sitting.
Doing
My mate brought her kids to visit for the weekend and it was excellent. Kids were on point and played beautifully so it made the weekend extra nice. We’ve got a few kids parties coming up and next weekend we’re off to the Mansfield Lantern Festival with some mates.
My kids’ schools each had different pupil free days last week so I got a date day with each of my girls. Saw The Sheep Detectives with the big one and the little one requested sushi train and going in an alligator (elevator) so we did both those things.
We also stopped by Hyphen in Wodonga to check out their gallery space for kids and it was lovely. We made a wattle pom pom and hung it on the tree.
Good times.
How are you? Also where are you getting outfit inspo these days? I’m not on Instagram anymore, Pinterest has become a hell hole of AI garbage. Any thoughts?
Have a good one!
Love
